Gold Star Medal of the Hero of Labor
This was the highest award of the Republic for civilian merit until the Order of Kim Il Sung was established. The gold medal accompanies the title conferred for efficiency and merit in professional work. A recipient is also awarded with the Order of the National Flag st Class. It is the Korean counterpart of the Soviet Title of the Hero of Labor.

Classes: single Badge: ten pointed gold star of fine rays, 36 mm of diameter; the central medallion has a large solid five pointed gold star on white backround with a hammer and sickle superimposed on it; the medallion is surrounded by a thick gold ring. Reverse: wording "Hero of Labor" and the award number. Mounting: the badge suspends from a metal framed bar with the ribbon 22 x 0 mm, red with yelllow side stripes
